I've walked the stores and seen some really attractive appliances on display — but none of them plugged in; they look really pretty … but they don't work, they just offer a promise of doing the job for which they were built. Interesting world we live in.

Tony H.Tony Harrimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04676435184520088593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730513785832553408.post-84925320863478924312013-01-30T09:03:42.534-06:002013-01-30T09:03:42.534-06:00Amen brother! Sometimes, I feel like I need to get some duct tape and tape the my plug to the wall. The devil is always trying to unplug us (or rather get us to unplug ourselves) by offering up all sorts of distractions. Paul explained it better than any preacher ever could:

“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-5 KJV)

Jesus came in the likeness of sinful flesh, just like the body that we adorn, yet he overcame that sinful flesh and never sinned, thereby fulfilling the righteousness of the law. Now, He is offering to work that same powerful miracle in us. But HE is the One doing the work. We just have to get out of the way, PLUG IN and let Him Juice us up with His life changing power!

As you have said in so many words, our only part in this deal is our submission to His will, the study of His word and consistent, effectual prayer. He can’t make us do that. We have to make the choice to participate in those things. But He will help us do them and He will do the rest. He does the changing – thank God!

Thanks for sharing that thoughtful article. That was a good one! Back in the seventies Jeff Beck named one of his albums, “Plug me into something”, but I’m with you and I say, “Plug me into Jesus!”

Kim S.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730513785832553408.post-62092331250575530942012-12-24T00:44:37.293-06:002012-12-24T00:44:37.293-06:00Hi, Kim. It was refreshing to hear of someone who crossed over — in the right direction. Some of his observations make great sense. I wish he would do more of some of his older presentations; they were intriguing.Tony Harrimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04676435184520088593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730513785832553408.post-50809229784146658062012-12-23T23:51:24.924-06:002012-12-23T23:51:24.924-06:00Hey Tony,

He was a professor of evolution and an atheist, before he became a creationist. He is a scientist, so he gives scientific data to back up what he says. He goes over the "big Bang" theory, the fossil record, the geological record and the biology of it all. It is, at the very least, an intriguing perspective offered from someone who used to dogmatically preach the opposite view. And it all makes perfect sense as well. Check it out and tell me what you think.

You can watch them free at:

www.walterveith.org

Kim
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730513785832553408.post-75240329736250565452012-11-08T15:06:53.084-06:002012-11-08T15:06:53.084-06:00I loved this !! Our relation to God, and His relation to us probably need not be so confusing. Maybe things would be better if we would quit putting words into His mouth: "Nothing bad will ever happen to you," and "Your guardian angel will protect you from harm." It seems to me that we are setting ourselves up for a great disappointment when we set our faith on things that God has not broadcast publicly. I'm familiar with Psalm 91, but so were millions of Christians living during the Roman occupation of the First Centuries A.D., as were millions of Jews (to whom the Psalm was written in the first place) during the Nazi occupation of the 1940s. Jesus never once told His disciples that they would be free from attack. I believe it's true that many of us are often preserved so that we can perform a much-needed service to humanity, but everyone's day of demise comes eventually.Tony Harrimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04676435184520088593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730513785832553408.post-67370284075173923522012-08-01T18:49:56.455-05:002012-08-01T18:49:56.455-05:00Dear Tony, I agree with you, Pain and injustice ma...Dear Tony, I agree with you, Pain and injustice make every human to wonder about God'S power or sadism. I share the feeling about children. when i see them go thru those ordeals with cancer or leukemia and for nothing, they die anyways. When i see those children at africa literally starved to death, something inside my soul jumps with indignation and fury. Why? What for?
Despite the pain for things like those killing spreads, well, it happens, anybody can carry a gun, so, well. Terrorism, I understand, don't agree. But children... i cannot even try to understand.
Praying, was always an enigma for me, how it works, is personal but when it's public, is it show out? why we try to explain to God, all the circumstances and little details, are we trying to convince Him?
And why we pray if God knows everything that's going on everywhere? if we pray without stopping, are we going to change God's mind? I mean if the things are going to be like God planned already, are we going to change anything?
I'm tired of listening people saying, "that happened because people don't pray" or "that happened because they don't ask help from God.
Perhaps that is the answer to your questioning about the hotline to heaven. If everything is going to be so easy as asking and receiving, well let's all pray!!! and everything is going to change and be better in the whole world.
And i can deal with all this and more, but the children...i'll never get it.MISDIANITAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18444392035016608023noreply@blogger.com
